Heaven

Hi Everyone!

If you found this page I assume you are interesting in discussing the Heaven book by Randy Alcorn. I hope that this book study will allow us all to become more familiar with the subject of heaven and long for it as Christ commands. This first entry is more of a test run. Please add a note or something to let me know that everyone will be able to write their thoughts on the chapter. If this works then we will start chapter one this week.

Hello, everyone! I hope I am posting this comment correctly. I am kinda new to this blog stuff.
I think I am going to enjoy this Heaven book.
In the introduction, Alcorn talks about how the subject of heaven hs been neglected in th emodern church. I agree. I have heard a lot about heaven from some of the old timers (Chuck Smith and J. Vernon McGee) but rarely hear a sermon or any teaching on it these days. This is unfortunate. Heaven is our hope. Perhpas that is why many Christians are weak.
I have for many years concluded that much of wht we call heaven is a misunderstanding. The bible teaches that we will have resurrected bodies and that we will return with Jesus at His coming. Then we will live forever with Him in the new heaven and the new earth. Sounds pretty good to me.
Keith Green used to sing a song called "I can't Wait to Get to Heaven." Great song.

In Chapter one, Alcorn starts off with JOnathan Edwards' life resolution..."to obtain as much hapiness for myself, in the other world, as I possibley can." What a great resolution.
The other main point of the chapter that stuck in my mind is that heaven is not going to be boring. It is going to be infinitely better than we can possibly imagine.

This is going to be a great study.

Love to all,
Dad
